much like how japanese people can’t pronouce 2 consonants in one syllable, or how cuban people can’t pronouce the v sound, korean people can’t pronounce the z, f and si sounds … z comes out at j, f comes out as p, and si comes out as shi … so u can only imagine what hearing my students say: i am sitting next to the table, i am sitting beside my mother, and i have been sitting here for an hour sounds like >_<

i speak both korean and japanese and i’ve noticed that both cannot, for the life of them, pronounce my name correctly. japanese pronounce my name eh.di.ku while koreans pronounce it eh.deek
